The cold season is upon us and it is very easy to catch it. Thankfully, there are many ways to treat and prevent a cold. Here are just a few tips to help you and your family stay healthy and happy!

1. Drink lots of liquids.

When we have a cold, we often don't feel like drinking water, but it is the best thing for you. I recommend drinking warm water and tea, because the warmth will feel soothing to a sore throat. This will help you stay hydrated and prevent your throat and mouth from being dry.

2. Vitamin C!

The best thing to fight off a nasty cold is to nourish your body with lots of vitamin C. You can do this by simply putting a slice of lemon in some hot tea or hot water. You can also buy vitamin C supplements at the drug store and take one daily to fight off the germs.

3. Get some rest

Our bodies can naturally fight off colds, but we need to be sure to give them lots of rest. Avoid doing anything that causes your mind or your body to be tense or stressed. Curl up with your favorite comedies, a good book, or some relaxing music. Just relax and let your body heal.

4. Essential oils

Using an oil like Eucalyptus will help you to naturally get rid of a cold. I enjoy putting oils in my diffuser and letting it fill the air. But you can also put some on your chest and wrists, as well as add a few drops to a nice warm bath.

5. Eat immune boosting foods

Here are some really good foods to help fight off colds:

Almonds- reduce inflammation

Yogurt- probiotic

Spinach- fights off infections

Chicken soup- hydrating, reduces inflammation

Garlic- antibacterial

Honey- natural immune booster, anti-bacterial, soothing

Lemon- Immune booster

Mushrooms- vitamin B
