I decided to start a juice cleanse. I wanted to start with only one day to see how it goes. Going into it, my goals were to try to only drink the juices all day and not add in any raw nuts or vegetables unless it was necessary. My hopes are to feel energized, healthy, and to crave less sugar by the end of the cleanse.
Drink one: Celery Detox: I started at ten o'clock with drink one. Celery juice resets digestion, restores gut health, and helps with bloating and inflammation. Celery juice tastes exactly the way you think it would taste. At this point, I am missing coffee, but the celery juice made me feel energized and refreshed.
Drink Two: Turmeric Citrus- boosts immunity, brightens skin, fights inflammation. Tastes like orange juice. At this point in the day I was feeling great. I was a little hungry but I was not desperate.
Drink Three: Healing Greens + Prebiotics- This drink tastes similar to a toxin flush from nectar which is my favorite drink there. I enjoyed this one. But, an hour after this drink I got a headache and chills. I looked it up online and it said that flu like symptoms could be a result of your body detoxing, and I wanted my body to detox, that's the point!
Drink Four: Charcoal skinny lemonade- I decided at this point to add in some raw nuts. I drank the juice and ate the nuts and I was starting to feel better, but not by much. It was not long after this that I decided not to continue with the juice cleanse. I was fatigued, chilled, sweaty, and the headache refused to go away. I decided it just isn't worth it. Plus, the thought of juice was unbearable at this point.
I decided to eat zoodles with meat sauce for dinner and I was very happy with my decision! Click here for my recipe!
In the end, my answer answer is, no, the juice cleanse is not worth it. Although, I do feel like I am craving less sugar than at the start of the day, the toll it took on my body just ended up not being worth it. I recommend eating clean, fresh foods instead of doing a juice cleanse. For those who can do juice cleanses, I am so proud of you! But, personally, my juice cleanse experience starts and ends with this one.
