There’s a reason yoga is called the “mind, body, and soul” workout. Yoga challenges you on more than just a physical level. It challenges you to quiet your mind, let go of the things that do not serve you, and focus on your present self. It allows you to feel calm and leaves you feeling better about yourself and the world around you.
I began my love of yoga about three years ago when I went to my very first hot yoga class. I didn’t know what to expect because I had never been to such a class, but once we began our vinyasa flow, I knew that yoga was for me. I have experienced many of the benefits yoga as to offer. It has helped relieve my anxiety, quiet my mind when I need it the most, challenge my mind to be controlled and my body to push past what I thought were my limits. After every yoga class I am given a new confidence and feeling, like I can take on anything that is thrown my way. I leave in a meditative state, with a profound sense of calmness and relaxation.
Yoga has many benefits that will assist you in daily life. It improves mental concentration, increases muscle strength, improves posture, balance, and flexablility, improves short term memory, improves your ability to deal with stress, reduces anxiety and depression, and so much more!
Whenever I feel stressed or flustered, I turn to yoga. It is my way of reconnecting with my body and my mind, so I can return to my day with a new, untroubled, composed attitude. After yoga, I am more productive and I approach daily conflicts with a better demeanor.
If you have never given yoga a chance, I encourage you to go out and try it, chances are, you will be pleasantly surprised with its benefits, much like I was.
