My har is something that I have always had a love hate relationship with. Some days, I love the thick curly waves, and other days I have no choice but to wear my hair in a bun because it's just so frizzy! However, I have recently discovered a few ways to tame my beach waves, which styling tools are easiest to use on my hair, and some tricks for wearing my hair naturally.
When I wear my hair naturally I always follow these four simple steps right after I wash my hair...
I dry my hair using a t-shirt instead of a towel. The material towels are made of can cause damage to your hair, which results in frizzy hair.
I brush my hair gently starting from the ends and working my way through to the roots. This will decrease the amount of damage done to the hair while brushing.
I use the t-shirt to scrunch up my hair as I dry it. I start from the bottom and scrunch my hair up to my roots. This soaks up the water and helps the wave into its natural form.
I add in a leave in conditioner, which I apply in the same scrunching motion as before. (I just started using the Orbie Supershine Moisturizing Cream)
Once my hair is dry, I use a curling iron to go over pieces that are frizzy or not curly enough. I simply wrap my hair around the barrel of the curling iron until it is curled to my liking. (Keep in mind, you do not need to curl every piece. Just a few top pieces that need some help!)
My favorite way to style my hair is to straighten it. I have always used a flat iron and I always hated the tedious chore. It always took me around a half hour to get the job done and when I was finally finished my hair would feel so dry. But, I have finally gotten my hands on a straightning brush and let me tell ya... an actual gift sent from the hair gods for the curly, wavy, frizzy haired girls! I love it! It takes me about ten minutes to straighten my hair now and when I am done my hair is left silky smooth and shiny. (Find the brush I use here ) It is very easy to use, I section my hair into two parts (the bottom and the top) and simply take a section of the hair, hold the ends, run the brush from the roots to the ends, repeat throughout the hair and voilá! Now, all it takes to get my hair straight is two sections and some heat protectant.
